This 12,000 bottle wine cellar was created to house a collection of both rare and everyday wine for an avid oenophile. Designed for the basement of a country house, the stone walls and wood beam and plank ceilings are meant to evoke the foundations and framing of the house above; while the antique furniture and lighting were selected to give the rooms a European ambiance.
The wine shelving, backlit with fiber optic lighting, was fabricated from antique oak and sized to accommodate both individual cases (on specially-made runners) or loose bottles, grouped together by wine type and vintage. Custom slate tablets were made to label groupings of vintages.
The oval tasting table along with all of the custom iron work were designed by the firm and fabricated for this project. A back room designed for bulk storage is built around a large mobile shelving system, customarily used in libraries, set in tracks and allowing more compact storage in the limited space.

This is a great article that shows us in lots of detail, how to build a root cellar. For those unfamiliar with the term, a root cellar is an underground room that acts like a natural refrigerator, maintaining temperatures in the mid 30’s F in the winter and mid 50’s in the summer.
Root-cellaring is a saving technique for ordinary winter storage of fresh, raw, whole vegetables and fruits that have not been processed to increase their keeping quality. The root cellar is a way to hold these foods for several months after their normal harvest in a cold, rather moist environment that does not allow them to freeze or to complete their natural cycle to decomposition in the fall. We love when our littles come to us with a piece of art they have created, but sometimes, it’s just too often! We end up with piles of papers stacked high or drawers full of art that we don’t even make the time to appreciate! Well, we know how much you love your kids and want to encourage the little artist inside of them, so here are the 5 best ways to display your child’s artwork in your home:
Avoid the pileups and trying to decide which piece of art is your favorite and create a collage with several scanned images of your child’s art! It will be fun to retell the stories of the artwork years later and see several pieces at once!
Each child can have his/her own brag board! You can do this with a regular cork board and frame or with a decorative piece of wood and clips. Whatever way you make a brag board, your children will love seeing a spot in the home just for them!
Check out more decorative signs from Prims ‘n Posies Etsy page here.
Cork boards offer an inexpensive and easy way to display art! All you need are the boards and some tacks! When you are done with one display, take it down and tack up a new one! I love how the picture above personalized each board with the first letter of the child’s name. You can also customize by changing the colors of the frames or letting your kids create a piece of art using their names.
All you need is some string and clothespins for this art display! In fact, your kids can do this themselves! This has been my “go-to” for showing off my creative little artists’ work and is a great way to start if you aren’t ready to commit to anything more permanent.
Picture frames can be used for more than regular pictures! Take frames and paint them to match a play room or your children’s rooms. Then allow your kids to replace the artwork as they choose! The picture above is a great example of what an art display gallery wall can look like when using a collage of picture frames!
If you aren’t into displaying your children’s art due to lack of space or children who produce more than you could ever dream to display, here are more ideas!
Give it as a gift — grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors all would love to receive a thoughtful piece of snail mail from your kiddos! So pass it on!
This step by step woodworking project is about free 10×12 gable shed plans. I have designed this shed with a gable roof so you can create additional storage space in your backyard. This shed is the ideal construction if you want to keep the costs down while enjoying a beautiful and sturdy design. My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs. See my other DIY projects HERE.
We recommend you to invest in the best materials you could afford. Therefore, you should buy weather-resistant lumber, such as pine or cedar. Always take accurate measurements before adjusting the size of the components at the proper size. Drill pilot holes trough the components before inserting the wood screws, to prevent the wood from splitting.

How to build a 10×12 shed
Building-the-floor-frame
First of all, you need to build the floor frame of the shed. Cut the joists from 2×6 lumber, using the information from the free 10×12 shed plans. Drill pilot holes through the rim joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the perpendicular components. Align the edges flush and check if the corners are square.
Fit 4×4 skids to the shed floor, making sure you place them equally-spaced. Drill pilot holes through the joists and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the skids.
Fitting-the-floor-sheets
Use 3/4″ tongue and groove plywood sheets for the floor of the shed. Align the edges flush and leave no gaps between the components. Drill pilot holes and insert 1 5/8″ screws to secure them into place.
Building-the-side-wall-frames
Build the frame for the side walls from 2×4 lumber. Cut the components at the right dimensions. Drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the studs. Align the edges flush and make sure the corners are square.
Building-the-back-wall-frame
Build the back wall for the shed in the same manner described above. As you can see in the diagram, you need to double the studs placed at both ends of the wall frames, for an extra support.
Building-the-front-wall-frame
Assemble the front wall for the shed. As you can easily notice in the free plans, you need to frame the door for the shed, by leaving space for the opening. You can easily adjust the width of the door so it suits your needs.
Building-the-shed-frame
Fit the wall frames to the floor of the shed, starting with the front and back walls. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes through the plates and insert 3 1/2″ screws into the floor. Use a spirit level to plumb the walls. Fit the wall frames to the sides of the shed. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock the adjacent walls together tightly.
Siding-to-the-front-wall
Fit the T1-11 siding sheets to the front wall of the shed. Align the edges with the top plates and secure them into place with 1 1/2″ brad nails. Insert the nails every 8″ along the framing. As you can see in the plans, you need to make a few cuts to the sheet that goes around the door opening.
Siding-to-the-back-wall
Fit the siding panels to the back wall, in the same manner described above.
Attaching-the-siding-to-the-sides
Fit the panels to the side walls of the 10×12 shed.
